North Island Lodge "Calm before the storm"

We’ve had a great week at North Island Lodge .. recently hosted Concert properties on their annual trip. Fishing was consistent with the majority of fish being caught offshore moving from McPhearson pnt down towards Coho. The weather was unreal .. fishing on the east side was comparable to fishing in a mill pond .. hardly a ripple in the water. Is this the calm before the storm?
I had the opportunity to fish with Derron Bain yesterday morning and while working offshore fishing aprox 60 – 100 feet we came across this beauty. Great job on the 37 Derron.
With a derby contender on the line I thought we might of had it … but in the back of my mind I knew there are bigger fish around. Not to be out done Brent Gallacher and his guest Barry Kimball where on a mission. With the north side of Graham Island slowing down slightly over the last week it was a ballsy move … but we all know if you put in your time and grind it hard you can sometimes pull out a nice one.
Brent and Barry pictured below with their 42lb released Chinook … great job on the derby win and the clean release boys!
Our fishing for kids tournament is just around the corner now … all the best and good luck to our tournament anglers!!!!
