North Island Lodge "new kid on the block"

Quick update here from North Island Lodge. The fishing over the last week has been incredible … Chinooks are being caught consistently the August run of hogs showing up in great numbers .. cohos are abundant and putting up more fight than ever and the weather .. what can I say!! Probably one of the most glorious days I’ve ever seen on Langara. I had a guest from California complaining that it was too hot!
Last week I had the chance to fish with Mike McDonough of Vancouver and Nick Hon from Calgary Alberta. What a blast! We where on the hunt for some coho and took a run east down along the North shore of Graham Island to the cabbage patch .. bait was stacked every where we couldn’t put a bait down fast enough before we where struck on the other side. Cohos fining along the surface feeding on needlefish where an easy target .. a quick cast of the line and we’d have one hooked!
This was Nicks first time salmon fishing and within a few hours Nick was baiting his hooks and setting up his gear. After we had our fill and some practice playing coho’s .. we pulled up and headed over to Bolder Bay. Within a few minutes of setting up “bam” two solid tugs and our line popped off the release clip. Nick sprung into action and with one solid set planted the hooks deep in the mouth of his very first Chinook …. while it might not have been the derby winner we had been looking for it was a first of many to come. Great job Nick and Mike! Can’t wait to fish with you guys again next year.
