What a year its been on Langara. Great weather, incredible fishing and awesome guests. This past week fishing has been on fire. We are close to mid August and we've had some very favourable weather but with the warmer temperatures comes a bit of fog ... we've had the odd delayed change over but Helijet comes through to transport our guests out.
With bait stacked along Graham Island all the way from Cape Knox down past Pillar Bay its hard to say where we have been the most successful ... decent sized Chinooks are being caught everywhere! The position of Langara and Graham island acts as a natural funnel as large Chinooks cruise through from Parry pass east feeding and resting in back eddies along the North shores of Graham. The first push of high slack has been popular to hit up some of the legendary locations historically known for producing some trophy Chinooks salmon. This past few weeks we've heard some fish have exceeded 70lbs!Quite often you hear long term guests commenting on what it was like fishing Langara Island in the late 80's. Its almost as though history is repeating itself again in 2013. Recently we had a surprise appearance from past guides Darcy Doyle, Steve Tennant and Joel MacDonald. Having over 70 years of combined experience fishing Langara these boys did not disappoint.Darcy had an epic day with his guests fishing Gunai pnt. Pictured below with a pair of 34lb Chinooks. Just another day on the water ...
Its been a few years for these guys but Joel and Steve looking pretty excited to jump back into a 19ft Eagle craft for their relief work at North Island ..
