North Island Lodge "67lb RELEASE"

July 13, 2013

So at the West Coast Fishing Club part of our culture and our mission statement has always been to put back more than we take out. We do this through the Salmon foundations we support, hatchery programs and most of all through educating our guests. If we can encourage the release of larger Chinook salmon we can maintain a large fish gene pool in our waters and we are doing our part to help preserve our sport. NO we dont "bang on a gong" to celebrate the fact that another TYEE was killed .... this is not part of the process here at the West Coast Fishing Club and any educated sports man will attest to the importance of conservation in creating a sustainable sport. With that said we are very proud to report our Jr. North Island guide Jacob Brunette is right on board with this concept as he had recent released a LARGE Chinook this last trip. Measuring in at a wopping 67lbs this thing i a MONSTER. Thanks to Clubhouse guides Screamer and Jordie for the photos and assisting with the release of this beauty of a fish.
