NIL Report: Location, Location, Location - July 19, 2019

July 19, 2019

Location, location, location! This week was all about location here at North Island. When the bite was on, it was hard to keep our lines down for long. With some weather moving through among other factors to make fishing harder, our guests were put to the test this week. Hot spots included Chanel Reef, Langara Rocks and McPherson Point with other notable fish caught in Boulder Bay.

Beautiful glassy seas for NIL guests. Mother Nature blessed us again with beautiful weather for our weekend trip. Calm waters made for excellent angling by Doug Cheyne who caught his 34lb chinook. Kade Kirichenko was on a roll with his 28lb and 26lb chinook catches while David Sheesley stumbled upon our biggest coho of the season at 15lbs! Honourable mentions go to Mark Hoeppner with a 26lb chinook and Tyler Cadrain with a 170cm halibut release.

Alfred Funk and Don Hooge with a nice chinook. We knew the weather would change at some point here on Langara, and that it did for a brief period on the mid week trip. Strong westerly winds and swells made for some rocky and wet days this week. It was a family affair this trip that saw long time guests of North Island and The Clubhouse catching some big fish. Father Paul Craviotto caught his 34lb chinook on the Monday and his son Jay caught his 35lber three days later, both along side guide Bryce Belyea. As well as the Craviotto combo, Steve Shull also caught a tyee (32lb) before the trip was all said and done.

Guide Bryce Belyea and Paul Craviotto with a beautiful 34.2lb release at Channel Reef.

Guide Bryce and Jay Craviotto with a 35lb tyee at Boulder Bay.Will check in this time next week.Tight Lines,Macgregor Johnston, North Island Lodge guide
