The Clubhouse Report August 7th ~ "Great time to be at Langara as the weather and fishing are in sync!"

The springs are back in numbers, ten tyee on the trip, and heaps of mid twenties! Yes, August is a great time here at Langara, the weather and fishing are in sync, and great times are to be had in most locations.Top fish of the trip was caught in a 22 foot skiff by Robert Brumpton, a 40 lb spring, released by Rodney Dangerfield. This fish was caught on Tuesday morning at Cohoe Point I am told, first pass before the lions woke up. Runner up was Duane Schneider angling 39 and 34 lbers with Korey and Gary Hayden, who was acting as assistant guide. Gary has made a second successful trip here this season, and his favorite guide did not disappoint him.Jeff Balliet released a 30.5 with myself out on the WEST BANK! We found consistent fishing all week there, with many mid twenties angled and released as well.

* Jeff Balliet with a nice 30.5 lb tyee. I am including a picture of the spring (above) as well as a stomper Coho, some 16 lbs we angled off the light! I went to release the Coho thinking it was just one of the many teen springs we had sent back. Yes, I was on auto pilot with the gaff shaking fish!

* 16lb Coho. A few nice tyee releases at 30 lbs even Craig Winborn, and Steve Dummermuth Sr! Nice to see these fish live another day! I see John Simmons put a 36 back as well, and Graeme Currie a 30, so wow, seven of ten tyee released! Now that is what I call good sportsmanship.So things have picked up, all spots producing somewhat, pick one. The Reef has been quiet mind you as has Lacy. Cohoe point is rocking, and seems to be the place right now. Korey says get on the standard tack, 60- 80 feet and work the fallen tree to the pin and you will be a busy boy. Some of the gang are dragging tyees out of Boulder, when the lion takes a nap.That is it for now, in other news, I saw Tennant eat a boiled crab tonight. He ate the whole crab. I am talking he cooked it in the shell, then ate the meat, and drank the disgusting broth from the shell, it was yellow with floaters, parts of gills, stomach, and some intestine. Me thinks he better take the Imodium out in the boat tomorrow. Nothing worst than cramps mid afternoon, miles from camp.
