Clubhouse Preseason Report - May 29, 2015

Hello everyone, from a foggy Langara Island and the start of our 2015 season. Some of us have been in here for some time now assisting Roger andhis winter crew opening camp and testing the fishing!A few surprises you will see as soon as you step off the heli, so I will not blow it. One thing I can tell you is it has been very dry up here for a rainforest and zero storms which is unusual. In fact it has not rained in over three weeks.Fishing is underway next door and plenty of Salmon to report, from what I have seen mostly mid teens, but in the last couple days a few tyee have rolled through. The east side has been the spot so far, but there are fish in Boulder as well.I ran out west for a look and found a large bait ball tucked in behind the rock, but no fish in that bait. This was a week ago mind you. I grabbed Todd, or Rod as he is known up here, manager from NIL, and we hit Andrews for a fish, and had no problem grabbing mid to high teeners, a couple a pass, landing them slightly more of a problem. I might ad Todd has the weakest hook set I have witnessed in awhile, but his roll is better than okay. Included are a couple pics of our adventure, you will notice a big change at Andrews! Something is missing, spoiler alert!

* Todd with a high teens Chinook.Bait and whales are just rolling in now, so things are on the upswing for sure. Our neighbours next door open up today so boats will be spread out and we will have a better idea where the hotspots are. Our guides are all arriving today, tomorrow, so we will have boats out as well. Our penthouse chef snuck out yesterday afternoon, first time ever on the Salmon and managed to grab a half dozen, which he released, so ya, game on now.Will have a frequent series of reports now on an ongoing basis, so check back in for the goods and I will do my best to keep you posted!Mike Tonnesen, Head Guide, Screamer
