For starters, I would like to congratulate my friend Drew Manson from NIL for the release of a "stomper" mid-50's a few days ago..Amazing fish Drew, keep it up!As the Boeing group left the dock on Friday, the rain started falling. A couple of drops at first which quickly turned into a light rain..Or what I like to call "wet" rain. Day 1 and 2 were a little slower than what we have seen and just a little damp. But guests and guides still had a good time and everyone managed to get something in the box.
*Hmm white meat. What we call a "Pat Simmons special".
*Mike and Amos seemed to be doing all right!.Saturday night was a high point for the inside staff as Hannah Reid successfully defeated all guides and guests to win her first Krud jacket ever. It was only a matter of time for Hannah as she has been nothing but lethal all year with numerous top 5 finishes. Let's see if she can repeat the feat again tonight!
*Krud Master Hannah Reid flanked by up and coming Mackenzie Hatfield and aspiring champ Gwen Gerryts. Beware everyone, these ladies mean business! With the winds coming down and the lack of numerous Chinook Salmon in close proximity, an executive decision was made on Saturday night. Sunday was to be an "all dayer" down to Hippa and Freeman with promises of large quantities of Salmon and Halibut. Nobody knew what they were in for! The expedition turned out to be legendary! Besides the fact that everyone "loaded up", thanks to our guys finding copious amounts of fish, 2 tyees were also found down there. Bryan Wright managed to wrestle in this 31 pound beauty with big Carl at the helm.
*Bryan Wright with his prized tyee! Well done boys!Shortly after, Allan Smolinski, expertly guided by veteran Sam Harrison fought a fish of a lifetime for more than half an hour! And this is what came up!!
*"Hippa Hog!!" 43.5 x 28 for 44.6 lbs on the chart! Successfully released.
*The thrill of victory.
*This one swam away strong. This fish capped off a great trip which only kept getting better as the days rolled on. All the guys from Boeing and CIE were a lot of fun and all the staff truly enjoyed having them around. It is now July and as I said in my last post, this is the the prefered time of year for Hippa Hogs to bite the line! Can't wait for my boys to hit the dock tonight to see what the flood tide brought them this afternoon. Amazing spot, great people and world class fishing! Did I forget anything?Till next time!Kuiama St-Gelais, WCFC Outpost
