The Black and Blue Boys!March 14, 2012
A lot has happened over the past 4 days. Abandancia’s last trip was on fire managing to hook into 3 Marlin durning the “Bobby Carter” Group’s 4 day stay.
The trip started off with a nice 650lbs Black Marlin for angler Bert. This nice fish was then followed by angler Bobby on day 3 with a very strange looking 350lbs Blue Marlin and then finally on day 4 ending with a nice 450lbs Black Marlin for angler Danny.
The Blue Marlin had a very strange short bill that looked like it had been damaged in a previous fight. The Marlin gave us a nice show, but it was hard to tell at the time exactly what we where looking at (Black, Blue, Massive Stripped?), but after much debate, the group decided that the fish was a Blue Marlin.
It is believed to be a Blue Marlin that had a part of its Bill break off.
From Left to right: Danny, Angler Bobby, Mate Andres and Captain Jose, celebrating their nice catch!
On the final day of deep sea fishing with the Bobby Carter Group, once again Captain Jose and Mate Andres found the boys one last nice Black Marlin. Angler Danny was the lucky one to fight this fish. The fish only jumped a couple of times, but gave him a nice fight before it was tagged and released.
The boys happy as can be!
Finally right before heading back home to the ship, both Cape Knox and the Abandancia had a little visit from the U.S. Coast Guard. They where just doing standard checks on the vessels.
I snapped a couple of pictures of Cape Knox and the U.S. Coast Guard that where around 2miles from us and on a closer look at the pictures I realized that there was a HUGE Marlin tail sticking up out of the water right in-between the 2 boats. I instantly grabbed the Radio and tried to call over to Cape Knox to tell them of the sighting. They were of course busy dealing with much more important matters with the Coast Guard. When we all got back to the ship later that evening. I showed the other boat the picture and no one could believe that they missed out on trying to hook into what looks like a MASSIVE fish!
Notice the massive black tail right in the middle of the boats!
In the end the boys where dubbed the “Black and Blue Boys” for their amazing 2 Black Marlin and 1 Blue Marlin.
Congrats to the Bobby Carter group and to Captain Jose and Mate Andreas for have such an great trip!
