Panama: SecretsJuly 5, 2011
We have several stars today…
First up is Brian Grange, with two blue marlin today. First one at 350 lbs, and the second at 550 lbs!!!!!!!! Woooooohoooooooooooooooo!!!
Both marlin were caught on live bait (bonito). Look at the beautiful blue of this fish…[CREDIT: Brian Legge Photography]
Brian: “The marlin [550 lber] was jumping clean out of the water just 30 feet behind the boat. Everyone was going crazy! Early in the fight, we got the fish behind the boat, tagged it, released it. The whole thing was over in a heartstopping 15 minutes”.
Below, the marlin swims away after being tagged by our friends at the Billfishing Foundation as part of their conservation programme.
Tobey: “Where were you when you caught the marlin?”
Brian G: “In the new Secret Marlin Fishing Grounds”
While the Brians were out marlin fishing, our amazing staff was hard at work getting dinner.
Above, our cover girl Lindsay with a huge Cubera snapper, and below with 1 of her 3 dorado. We ate this as ceviche and it was DELICIOUS.
Below, Chief Engineer Frank, Captain Junior, and Mate Donar make ceviche with the day’s catch.
In the afternoon run, flat calm water and a perfect blue sky made for a gorgeous half day of fishing.
Our newest additions to our team – Julie and Hans (who will be running Client Services and logistics in Panama City) enjoyed their first WCFC fishing experience today. Hans calmly brought in this HUGE roosterfish (40 lbs)…he was feeling pretty good about it until…
…Julie brought in this one (75 lbs). It’s not size that matters Hans!
All told, in two short half day runs, our staff caught the following species within a 15 mile radius of the ship:
Dorado (my favorite for ceviche!)
Hurry up and get down here!
Good night from Paradise,
