Panama: Fun in the NeighborhoodNovember 6, 2011
Chef Michael, Pablo, and myself got out on the water for a few hours yesterday for a dose of fresh air and fishing fever.
Here are some photos of our adventures…all this fishing action within 17 miles of the ship!
Bait going craaaazy…hard to get a good shot – the water was boiling!!
Flat calm…birds on a log, just what you want to see.
Birds and logs are always the signs you look for – bait tend to hide under the protection, and then the fish that feed on them, and so on up the food chain.
Michael keeps a sharp eye out for movement.
Look at the water – just gorgeous.
Look at all the fish in the water – the water around these logs was thick with all different species.
Popper paradise!! Throwing poppers for dorado is a blast…
Chef Michael is a fly fishing maniac – it’s the only way for him. Here he is casting to this log…he had a great day of fly fishing: a few bonito, a tuna, and a gorgeous dorado, all released.
Perfect small yellowfin on the fly!
Pablo snags this sweet dorado in the same area. They are so spectacular in the water – the colors are so vibrant.
I put down the camera for a few minutes for this snapper…
And this huge amberjack for Captain Alexi to take home to his family (amberjack is his favorite!)…
Some of my favorite men…Captain Alexi, Mate Donar, and Chef Michael.
Loads of fun for a few hours – and only 1/2 hour from home! We are spoiled!
Good night from Paradise,
