Panama: Getting Busy!

« Back to Posts

Today was a hive of activity here on the Pacific Provider. When one imagines being moored next to a nearly-uninhabited tropical paradise island in the Pacific Ocean, it is hard to imagine the amount of activity that occurs here in a day.

While our wonderful guests went fishing (more on that coming up!), we had a drop-in party of 7 for lunch, led by Captain Andy, who drove the Pacific Provider out to Punta Cocos from Panama City earlier this month. Snazzy stripes Andy!

After stuffing them with local lobster, love, and homemade mango ice cream, they continued on their way back to Panama City.

This boat cruised by for a look as well - looks like everyone is excited to check us out! It has been one of the best surprises to feel the excitement of local Panamanian sportfishing community who are JAZZED about our beautiful, luxury floating hotel/restaurant. But of course! How amazing - fishing all day in the middle of the big blue, then cocktails on the rooftop deck, hot tub, 5 star dinner under the stars...come on!

Today when they returned from fishing, Troy said one of the best things we could ever hope to hear from one of our guests:

"TODAY WAS THE BEST DAY OF FISHING IN MY LIFE"

At one point, Troy's reel was actually SMOKING from how fast the line was playing out.

With non stop action hammering them from all sides, their only complaint was that with all the fish biting, they didn't have a chance to eat or drink all day. Sorry for your pain fellows!

Here's Bob #1 with a monster yellowfin - too big to even lift up. Alexis steadies him as they struggle to lift it for the photo.

Ernie and Bob #2 caught some beauties today as well - due to technical difficulties, the photos are not available. Tomorrow you will see their handsome faces on here!

These poor men - so exhausted by all the fun. After a gruelling day of non-stop fish, the men enjoy a soothing drink in the hot tub.

And no, Ernie does not have a piranha feeding on him under water. These are our funky hot tub lights!

Catching bait has been tough for the last few days because of the full moon. Things are looking up today - below are some pictures of the bait frenzy our guests saw on the water earlier. The water was BOILING with bait...and sharks, dolphins, birds and everything in between.

They were literally scooping the bait out of the water. Here is Junior prepping some of the bait haul for tomorrow's fishing.

In another bait-catching technique, Chief Engineer Frank gracefully casts this net...

ALL READY FOR ROOSTERS TOMORROW!!
