North Island Update: A Whale of a Time!

« Back to Posts

The Tyee releases continued to mount this trip. Long time guest Ken Perrine with the Simon group managed 3 for himself....Here’s a shot of his measured and released 42lber…Sure looks all of that to me!

Jay Trautwein also released a 41 and those that ventured to the halibut grounds with “The New Hali King”,guide Scott, found 3 fish in the 40-140lb range…He is certainly dialed in on them at the moment

How about a whale show…” Orcas and Humpbacks were everywhere”. Photo compliments to Ken Perrine with this spectacular shot of a humpback bubble feeding. Reminds us we are rather insignificant in their world.

Flicking through some pictures we found this one from a few years back. Looks like the orcas are working together here.

Langara is teeming with life right now. Whales and all, fishing remains strong with two more Tyee pins handed out last night….

Good night from North Island.

    Todd; Thanks for the great time. This was my 22 year in a row at Langara and it was one of the best. The fishing was wonderful and your crew and hospitality and food were all wonderful. Hope to see you again next year God be willing.

    Thanks again;

    Bert, Bruce, Whitney, and Pat
