Panama's Newest Fishing Resort • Opening 2011
15 bites and 7 sails to the boat. Another BANNER day here in Paradise.
I would like to share a few excerpts from one of our angler's journal entries from the day - he captures the emotion and excitement exactly.
And then, please watch the video footage of the 7 SAILFISH!!

Caliente means hot in español and it's really bloody caliente if you're standing in full sun but there's cover or shade if you need it. We don't mess around with anything less than SPF50 down here. White guys crisp up quick and get sold to KFC in short order.
We're up and gone early - we all have the FEVER. I've got the GoPro camera strapped to my chest ahead of time and trying to ignore the butterflies & not jinx myself. Ahhh I hate waiting. A couple of Dorado help us pass the time.
Well no sooner than I give up, there's a Sailfish on. He broke the surface just behind a Ballyhoo we were dragging close to the boat, dove then came back up under the bait and snap.
Ihor has the camera on and he's not taking it off for anyone . Now I realize that all my efforts to look calm and cool didn't work. You can easily see the excitement in him and now I know it must have been just as easy to see it on me too. We can see the sailfish jumping 300' to the stern & off our port side. It's killing us to try and be patient. Ihor's got his Sailfish. Now it's Craig's turn. Craig's done & Ed's back in the saddle again. We're all pretty tuned right now.
Flat calm 44 nautical miles from anything. Sun's melting aaalll my stress away. We are all as happy as 6 boys can be far from home and on the ocean. The only thing better would require a call home to ask permission. Ha ha.
Every time I try to make notes, to elaborate on later, we get another billfish whacking at our bait & all hell breaks loose with Alexi yelling from above, Alirio paying out line & the rest of us running to our stations. Be it camera man, chairman, GoPro guy or whatever the crew instructs us todo.
I have no idea what the temp actually is but I've got a long sleeve shirt on, as does everyone else, to protect from the sun. I'm forced to drink great quantities of beer to rehydrate from the constant stream of water leaking out of me and saturating my shirt. Need to mention the wild variety of music they're playing, from the song Sunny to piano solos to reggae talking about "36DD's and I wanna squeeze". Somehow it all works.
El Grande (similar to Tyee) is what they call Marlin over 1000... We want one. Correction: Need one!
Ed got his Sail. With fresh Ceviche, icy Chardonnay, and Cervezas we are all lost for words.
... Sell the car, sell the house, sell the kids forget it I'm never coming home!
Local Scallop Salad with Leek Purée and Arugula
Tuna Meatballs with Green Bean Picada and Roasted Fennel.
Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream...
Good night from Paradise,
