Outpost Update ~ Aug 21 "my last summer report"

« Back to Posts

With changeover tomorrow, today was the last full day with guests in house. The weather has improved but the fishing was slower (by Outpost standards) and you had to work to get fish. I speculate the big storms of late have put a damper on things.

7pm this evening the boats hit the dock...

Guide Ben, Jim and Ken pose for a portrait after a long day on the water...

Donn does his best tenor impression after catching the largest fish of the day...

A nice 27 lber to cap off the season...

Shortly there after the boys posed for a "last day" picture...

and a friendly "wrastle" broke loose...

It looked like Dewy was a goner...

But he was suprisingly strong and even Panz couldn't get him in the water.

Adam knew he was a doomed so flipped in on his own accord...

A little wet but no worse for wear...

Mike, Mark, Adam, JP, ben and Andrew.

While up at the lodge desert was being served...

Chefs Jordan and Rebecca put the finishing touches on a great meal...

...and thats a wrap folks.

Its been a fantastic season and from all of us to all of you...

Thanks so much for joining us this summer, we hope to see you again next year either online or here at THE OUTPOST. From left to right & top to bottom we have; Adam, Rebecca, Justine, Ken, Jordan, Hannah, Mark, JP, Dan, Ben, Andrew and Mike.

This will be my last daily report, I hope you've enjoyed them and I appreciate all the comments and feedback. During shutdown Adam will take the reins and do some blogging after which our caretakers Heather and Mike will bring you weekly winter updates from life in Port Louis.

I'll report back from time to time with the lastest Outpost news as it develops but for now its Kennyb saying...

"Over and Out"

Thanks, Ken to you and your staff! We had a great time...and as usual, we will be back next season again! Never missed a season since The Outpost opened...and I intend to keep that tradition alive.

Thanks...and enjoy your well deserved time off for all at The Outpost!

    Cheers,

    Steve Kasteler

There's no place in the world like the Outpost, and no better crew to be found. If anyone is ever in Calgary, and wants to fish the Bow, zap me an e-mail, and it will be my turn to guide you. Until next year, have a great off season.

I've watched your reports for most of the season. They are the best I've seen from any lodge. Great photos and commentary - almost as good as being there. I'll look forward to following next years reports. I live in Auburn, CA and fished once this season near Bella Bella. I have fished the Langara area before with very good success. I caught a few trout earlier today in a water canal/ditch near Sonora, CA.

Again thanks for your wonderful fishing reports/updates.

Everyone at the outpost should be truly proud of what they have accomplished. Everyday you have put on a brave face to make this place special for every group that is privileged to experience a most incredible place on earth. You have great days and horrific days but never bad days.

Congratulations, you did it again!!!! Not many individuals can claim such a wilderness marathon..These experiences will always be with!!!! No one can take them away!!!

My very best to all and thanks for all your hospitality.

    Cheers, Steve Panz

Kenny B!! Congratulations to you and your amazing staff for such a successful season. I'm sure your guests - and staff - will have lots of great fishing stories to tell for a long time after this summer! Great job all of you! xoxoxox to all of you from Panama.
