Fishing For Kids Update ~ Aug 29 "Shotgun start"
    Ken Beatty

At 7:00 am this morning the "gun" went off and the 6th annual Fishing For Kids tournament was underway... Every boat in the fleet and all 42 particpants raced to the fishing grounds to be the first to get lines in the water... Most of the fishing effort was focused between Coho and MacPhearson points. There was a great early morning bite and listening to the... read more »

The Kings continue to show here at the Clubhouse, fishing has slowed somewhat for big Chinook though. That said we have 6 tyees for the trip, largest 37 lbs. We had two tyee today at 33 lbs, but the majority of Chinook are in the teens. Korey ran out with Conman to check the night bite tonight, but notta, just a jack and a number of bigger northerns. We are finding a de... read more »

Wow, that south easterly blew up today as predicted. Extra lines on the skiffs tonight, a rather large swell rolling in from the south west rocking the docks, yes, nice to be in a land based lodge tonight. The fire is roaring, the guides are grubbed up and in the sack as they sleep it off and get ready for a big day tomorrow. The bite yesterday was sporadic, a few chino... read more »

A thundershower is pounding us tonight, brisk southerly winds as we all get comfy in the lodge tonight. We are still in a wet period here at Langara, although the winds are dropping off hourly now. The East and South side are fishable, the West side closed as monstrous swells slowly abate. That is the beauty of Langara, we are always fishable here. Being an island we... read more »

Another warm front passing through Dixon Entrance, gales from the Southwest, some rain, but very fishable! Most of our guests are one chinook shy of a four king limit with a day to go on our current trip. Yesterdays fishing was fantastic for some of us...I took my group over to the REEF with Korey, and we hammered the tar out of em for most of the afternoon. Peaceful... read more »

Looks like a dry calmer day ahead here at Langara, as we get ready to head out with our new group. Fishing picked up again yesterday and here is a quick report. I fished with John Simpson out off Lacy yesterday , out in the deep and in the big swells as it had blown South West a few days. We fished in 200 to 300 feet of water, trying to drop deep on bait balls. It wa... read more »

Southwest 35 and gusting, yes last night was a gale, and the sideways rain and howling wind made us all appreciate a land based lodge here at Langara! The weather has now let up and we have some nice fish to report, although chinook fishing has been slower the last couple days. We are having small waves move through the area, the East Side has come back from the dead.... read more »

The calm before the storm here at Langara, on a glorious day, sunny, warm and flat seas, a guides dream. Fishing has slowed today for chinook but huge Northerns were the talk at dinner. Top fish of the day was angled by Jacob Duvenage, a 35 lber, guided by another Jake out at Lacy in 200 feet of water. It is a lottery fishery out there right now, drifting around hoping... read more »

A showery blustery night here at the club, the fire is roaring, nice to be inside warming the bones. Sunny skies, flat seas and big fish, yes, what a day here at Langara. Gunia Point has come back alive, the Hippas are migrating along they're normal route, guiding is once again predictable and hugely exciting!
